Sunday 26th February – relax and walk **** the Playe de Rambla Elena beach - sunny and warm :) Out 2hrs 35mins covering 4.11 miles

Not the best night in our lovely spot by the Playe de Rambla Elena beach as the wave action hitting the fossilised dunes in front of us made a loud roaring noise! Only the briefest glimpse of sunrise this morning as cloudy, but it soon cleared to leave us with wall to wall sunshine. I did my exercises on a tiny patch of small stones as a steady stream of mountain bikers and people from the large campervan enclosure along the coast walked past but on the whole, it was very quiet:) Mag knitted until I had finished and we had breakfast at 11.30! Then we just relaxed by the Med reading and knitting before we got a bit restless, packed a picnic and walked away from Cope at 1.30. The reason this small area is a National Parc is the fossilised dunes and we haven’t seen anything quite like it before. It’s like a mixture of shells and stones have been mixed together to form a natural concrete very odd but pretty none the less:) The good dirt track went on for several miles but we walked on the dunes and across the many small cove beaches with only odd people fishing and families enjoying a day on the beach. There are white concrete numbered markers every hundred metres or so perhaps they are to help record any coastal erosion?
After about a couple of miles we were getting hungry and found a nice little beach down a scramble path and stopped for our picnic before returning to the van sticking mainly to the track this time. Mag particularly enjoyed picking up multi coloured stones of which there are millions, sea glass and the odd shell. Back at the van for a well-deserved cuppa and cake before enjoying the late afternoon sun on the beach.
Ran the engine just to boost the battery and a quick walk to look at the many campers just around the corner with a large flock of sheep nearby. No sunset today either as clouded over but top day in the warm sunshine:)
